Model Catalogue Information

YEAR INFORMATION
1994 The Westerns first appeared in 1961 and, in keepeing with the long traditions of Swindon works they exhibited a considerable originality of design. Their premature withdrawal in thelate 1970s cam about because of a BR policy to standardise on diesel electric traction. Model powered by Type 5 ringfield motor.
1995 There were 74 Westerns produced at Swindon but like the Hymeks they fell foul of BRs standardisation plans for diesel electric traction in the late 1970s. The model has diecast metal cab interiors and separate handrails. Motive power is supplied by a Type 5 ringfield motor.
