| 1995 | Over 500 Class 08 shunters, many of them dating back to the 1950s, are to be found distributed around the BR depots of Britain. Their design and gearing, giving maximum speed of only 20mph, emables them to handle all but the heaviest of trains. Similarly the Hornby model, in its smart Railfreight livery, is surprisingly strong with the power being provided by the Type 7 ringfield motor through to the SSPP (Super Strong Pulling Power) chassis. |
| 1996 | Designed for their pulling power rather than speed, many of the 500 Class 08 shunters that were built can be seen in marshalling yards manoeuvring the heaviest of trains into position. To try and emulate its full size counterparts strength the Hornby model has a powerful Type 7 motor fitted to an SSPP (Super Pulling Power) chassis. |
