2000 The Patriot evolved from the earlier Claughton class of the L.N.W.R.
EC Trench was originally a Claughton No.5952 but was rebuilt as Patriot No.5539 in 1933 with the classification of 5XP which was given to all the rebuilds. The Hornby model with fine scale drive wheels incorporates blackened metal parts and multi wheeled pick-ups for smooth running at slow speeds and carries the mid 1930s livery of the L.M.S.
A new model ringfield motor is enclosed in the tender.
