2010 | Imperial Airways was formed in the early 1920s and operated flights from Croydon Airport and also from Southampton where flying boats are used. In the late 1930s there was a call for a train service to be created to carry Imperial Airways passengers from London to Southampton where they would then take a flying boat to their chosen destinations. The Hornby Imperial Airways Train pack incorporates representations of several items of rolling stock associated with these trains with the locomotive power being supplied by a Southern Railway T9. This pack is a limited edition of 1500 pieces with each pack containing an appropriately numbered certificate. |
