Collett the King Castle Class 6000 series was built by Great Western Railway (GWR) with the intent of wresting back the title of “most powerful steam locomotive in Britain” after losing the title to Southern Railways Lord Nelson Class. Model Information: When railways tracks were first laid in Great Britain and trains began operating to a timetable the Royal Mail were one of the first to take advantage of this new mode of transport, using the trains to pick up and deliver post to all area of the country, it is therefore fitting that the Royal Mail have produced a series of stamps celebrating some of the famous classes of steam locomotives that have operated on the British Isles.
In conjunction with the Royal Mail, Hornby have produced a series of Limited Edition models to coincide with the individual subjects of the stamps. Included in each of the specially produced presentation packs will be not only the relevant model but also a special Royal Mail cover envelope complete with stamp, the subject matter of which corresponds with the model. Each pack will also include a limited edition certificate. Limited to just 1200 pieces these exclusive models are sure to become a sort after collectors item.
