Company Information: Canadian Pacific Railway was founded in 1881 to link Canada’s populated centres with the vast potential of its relatively unpopulated West. This incredible engineering feat was completed on November 7, 1885, six years ahead of schedule. Currently CP operates tracks west of Montreal to the Pacific coast. It’s world-famous transcontinental passenger service ‘The Canadian’ was handed over with all other passenger services to government agency VIA Rail in 1978 where it was ‘merged’ with Canadian National’s competing service.
