During the visit “Flying Scotsman” achieved many things but above all the locomotive established a new record by steaming 442 miles (711km) from Parks to Broken Hill without stopping making this journey the longest non-stop run ever recorded by a steam locomotive. In view of this and the anniversary of the Bicentennial Celebrations the Hornby “Flying Scotsman” has been produced as a limited edition of 1000 models incorporating several features that could be seen on the locomotive as it travelled across Australia.
