2000 | In May 1959 the newly built Canadian Pacific, which by then had been given a 525O gallon tender, had run a total of 632,322 miles. By November of that year the locomotive had been allocated to Bournemouth but was eventually moved to Weymouth in September 1964. Canadian Pacific finished its British Railways days in October 1965 having covered 976,806 miles. During its time as a rebuilt Merchant Navy Class Iocomotive, number 35005 had been provided with a 6000 gallon tender. After withdrawal Canadian Pacific was removed for scrap but was rescued in April 1974 and can now be seen fully restored and running in BR blue., a livery that it only carried while streamlined. |
2001 | The fifth locomotive in the Class, 'Canadian Pacific' left Eastleigh Works in December 1941 but did not enter traffic until January 1942 continuing in service until the end of 1964. Rebuilt in 1959 and rescued for preservation in 1973, this superb example of its class can now be seen, liveried in blue, hauling special steam excursions on the mainline. The Hornby model powered by a 5 pole motor depicts 'Canadian Pacific' in its modern-day livery and can quite legitimately appear on a modern image railway layout. |
