1978 | Sir Dinadan was built at Eastleigh in 1926 for use on the heavy expresses of the newly formed Southern Railway. The normal 8-wheel tender of the class was replaced by a shorter 6-wheeler to enable Sir Dinadan to use Ramsgate turntable. The Hornby model is resplendent in the livery of the 1930s and has full cab detail. The locomotive has finer scale wheels and incorporates Magnadhesion for improved hauling capacity. A member of the class, Sir Laminel, is preserved at the South Eastern Steam Centre, Ashford. |
