YEAR INFORMATION
1978 Over 800 of these popular Stanier designed stalwarts were built with variants still being introduced under the British Railways regime in 1950. The 12 preserved examples include one operating at Loughborough on Main Line Steam Trust metals. The model is finished in the LMS Express Passenger Maroon of the 1930s, although no member of the class was recorded in this livery. The Hornby version is powered by a tender mounted Ringfield Silver Seal motor and has fully flanged finer scale wheels and wire handrails.
